
surf092305.jpgPalu suggested we arrive at 8am-9am as the swell was supposed to be decent and high tide was around 10am. After 5 minutes of intensive surf training under the trees under the watchful gaze of incredulous Bali boys, we hit the water and set about riding white water ripples. With the temperature warming up to about 90f in the afternoon, the cool ocean was refreshing and the initial shock soon dissappeared. I felt I could handle being in the water all apart from the intense sunshine. Our board was the perfect size for beginners and straight away Pria caught a small wave and stood up for about 6 seconds. My surfing hasn’t improved, (how could it, I never do it) but I managed to stand up on the waves I went for. Chris had a good time also. Kuta Beach slopes very gradually and is sand, rather than reef. Learning to surf here is quite safe and very affordable. Simple take a surf lesson to get some proper knowledge (don’t rely on guy with glasses who surf Yahoo) and you’re off to enjoy the world of surfing.
