DKI Jakarta Investment

Jakarta Special Capital Region Province (usually called DKI Jakarta) is a strategic area because this is as the capital city and the centre for the governmental administration. On the basis of Undang-undang (Act) No. 10 on 31 August 1964, DKI Jakarta is officially stated as the Capital City of Indonesia. DKI Jakarta borders on West Java Province, Banten Province and Java Sea. Administratively, DKI Jakarta consists of 5 municipalities: North Jakarta, East Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta and Central Jakarta, and 1 Autonomous Second Level Region under the supervision of the Governor, Kepulauan Seribu.
The province consists of 43 sub-districts and 265 villages (the areas under sub-districts). DKI Jakarta covers the area of 7.639 km2: 661.52 km2 land and 6,977.5 km2 sea and is inhabited by 9,041,605 people (according to the 2005 data) with its population density of 13.668 persons per km2. The area of DKI Jakarta is mostly occupied for dwelling (43.788,57 ha) and industrial activities (4,417.87 ha).Up to 2005, the Gross Regional Domestic Products (PDRB) of DKI Jakarta reached Rp. 295.3 trillion.
The sectors which contributed the biggest amount to this province were finance, leasing and business services, reaching Rp. 90.9 trillion or 30.8% out of the total of PDRB. This was followed by trade, hotels and restaurants amounting Rp.63.5 trillion (21.5%) and manufacturing industry as much as Rp.51.2 trillion (17.3%) as shown by the following chart.As the Capital City of Indonesia and centre for economic activities, the supporting infrastructure and facilities, both for communication and others, reliably support investments, for example 2 international airports, Bandara Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdana Kusuma, and Tanjung Priok seaport as the main seaport. The 24-hour land transportation and train play a very important role in DKI Jakarta.
