Napabale Lake

Napabale lake which is located at 15 km away from Raha, is a salty water lake since it connects with the sea through a narrow deep canal. The panorama of the lake is quite beautiful. You can go around the lake by walk on a pedestrian or rent a double canoe boat for Rp. 2.000 an hour.

There is an annual Napabale Lake Festival conducted by the local people and the government of Muna. It is on June of the year. In the festival you can witness the horse fighting, and several traditional dances attraction. To get to the lake, go to Raha market taxi station and take a taxi to Lohiya village for Rp. 750 - Rp. 1.000. Ask the taxi driver to take you right to the lake.

Napabale Lake is at the foot of a hill, connected to the sea via a natural tunnel. At low tide swimmers can traverse this span of water for a most unusual experience. However it is considered unadvisable and dangerous to attempt this feat during high tide, as the water rises to only one half meter from the roof of the tunnel.
